TES Construction Set ‘Shortcut Keys’ / ‘Keyboard Commands’

TES
Construction Set ‘Shortcut Keys’ / ‘Keyboard Commands’

A list of shortcut keys, including some extra information in true ‘gedye’ fashion.
Let it be known that I strongly object to the fact that none of these commands, with the exception of possibly ‘F’, help one to align multi-pasted objects perfectly. Why oh why oh WHY?! didn’t they give the option to move the object by keyboard commands alone. If I am wrong and one is able too then please email me and let me know. I am currently too engrossed in the ultimate quest for the perfect .esp to leaf through the MULTITUDES of Elder Scrolls’ forums to learn more. - Bugger it, no use lieing to you, I’m just a lazy biatch!

Well, nothing left for me to say except good luck with your constructing, be creative, be extreme, be totally mad and just maybe your esp’s will turn out to be everything you hoped for and much more!

Spacebar
Hold the SpaceBar down while moving the mouse to pan the view (or hold down the mouse-wheel).
V
Hold down V to zoom the camera while moving the mouse in the view (or spin the mouse-wheel).
Arrow Keys
Move the view a half-cell distance at a time.
SHIFT
Hold the Shift key while moving the mouse to rotate around the view. If an object is currently selected the view will rotate about that object.
C
Center the currently selected object in the view.
T
Center the currently selected object in the view from a top-down perspective.
D
Deselect all objects (or left-click in any empty space).
CTRL
Hold down the Ctrl key and left-click objects to select/deselect multiple objects.
Dragging is also possible when making additions but has no effect when subtracting.
X/Y/Z
Hold the X/Y/Z key:
+ left mouse button to move selected objects along the axis’.
+ right mouse button to rotate selected objects.
X - Is Y Axis (Backwards and Forwards)
Y - Is X Axis (Left and Right)
Z - Up and Down (As should be)
Please note that these do not change depending on your ‘North Marker
F
Make the currently selected object(s) ‘magically’ fall to the next object beneath it(them).
DEL
Delete the selected objects from the world.
CTRL+C
Copy the currently selected objects.
CTRL+X
Cut the currently selected objects.
CTRL+V
Paste copied/cut objects. Objects are placed in front of the camera.
CTRL+SHIFT+V
Paste copied/cut objects in place. The objects are placed at the exact same coordinates from when they were copied.
However, I have noticed that in order to move them after pasting one must deselect and reselect the newly pasted objects. This is VERY frustrating, not to mention confusing when one is copying many objects. My advice is to literally select each and every object individually with the use of the CTRL key (which should be SHIFT IMO), that way one will be more likely to remember each object when it comes to reselection.

Not Important:
This keyboard combination is a hell of task if you’ve got your keyboard on your lap, because after a few hours of having to either lean back or pushing your elbows deep into your chair not only does your sholder hurt but your pinky, be it left or right will be burning! This is only applicable if you insist on holding the Ctrl + Shift keys down at the same time with the same pinky as I do and you have teeny weeny fingers… also as I do.
CTRL+D
Duplicate the currently selected objects. The duplicates are placed right on top of the selected ones.
Like CTRL+SHIFT+V one must undergo the ‘de/reselection process’ in order to move objects, (see above).
CTRL+Y
Redo actions

CTRL+Z
Undo actions.
Not all actions can be undone apparantly, though I have never had this problem and I’ve done a fair bit of Ctrl+Z’ing in my time despite my apparent lack of TSC knowledge and the ability to communicate with you on a 1337 3D’ing level.
CTRL+F
Find the first instance of a particular item in the world. The cell window will change to display the object.
Never used this function. Never felt the need. I’m quite good at remembering where everything is despite the fact that most of my interiors have around 3500 objects in them.
F2/F3
Find the next/previous instance of the last item found using CTRL+F. Use these to iterate through all instances of a particular object in the world.
M
Hide/Show marker objects (including door, invisible light, north and travel markers).
SHIFT+C
Hide/Show everything (it seems).
Remember first opening the TES-CS, creating a wonderful masterpiece, forgetting to save and accidentally pressing Shift instead of Ctrl when copying an object? I certainly do and I can tell you it’s not funny, especially when you’re a quivering wreck like me. Lost allot of good men that day!
L
Hide/Show the radius of all lights.
A
Toggles Lighting on/off.
F4
Toggles Collision Mesh on/off.
W
Toggles Wireframe on/off.
H
Open the landscape edit window.

  Mouse Functions
L-Button
Select objects (+ Ctrl for multi-select).
Note: Dragging will function as should do when making additions to a group of selected objects, however, it does not work when trying to deselect a number of objects from el’groupe.
R-Button
(Held)
Rotates selected object(s).
M-Wheel
(Scrolled)
Zoom in/out.
M-Wheel
(Held)
Pan Camera. (Pans faster when an object is selected).
M-Wheel+SHIFT
(Held)
Rotate Camera. (Rotates around object if selected).
